The Nittany Valley Society hosted its first public event today. Our Winter Reception was a great afternoon of community fellowship and we were thrilled to be able to bring together a true diversity of guests from across our area. I’ll be writing more about the Winter Reception and our first year experiences in the new few weeks, but I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge a special gift.
Dr. Ben Novak, author of two of our books, “Is Penn State a Real University?” and “The Birth of the Craft Brew Revolution” was also our featured speaker for this year’s Winter Reception. As he began his remarks he took a moment to present us with a Mount Nittany Conservancy deed, a true legal deed to a single square inch of Mount Nittany, the symbol of our area.
Dr. Novak founded the Mount Nittany Conservancy in 1981 and conceived of the Square Inch Deeds. Needless to say, it was an honor to receive such a gift from the Mount Nittany Conservancy and Dr. Novak.
