After a marvelous inaugural season as Penn State’s first new head football coach in nearly 50 years, Bill O’Brien has been deservedly lauded with numerous awards. Facing the daunting tasks of succeeding the legendary Joe Paterno and holding the team and program together in the wake of scandal and sanctions, O’Brien conducted himself with the dignity and professionalism befitting a Penn Stater; the same can be said of the other men on his coaching staff.
The Nittany Valley Society board of directors sent O’Brien the letter posted below back in September (just before his first win) to express support and admiration for the job he had done through the challenging off-season. We continue to wish him good fortune and grace as he helps mold young Nittany Lions into men.
