Nittany Valley Society Fellows (PDF) foster a “spirit of community across time for Penn Staters and the Nittany Valley’s people.” Fellows serve as ambassadors and as volunteers, sharing the Nittany Valley Society’s vision for stronger and more inspirited community life.

Tom Shakely
Tom Shakely is the Nittany Valley Society’s chair/president and serves as a board member.

Sean Clark
Sean Clark is the Nittany Valley Society’s vice president and serves as a board member.

Alex Smith
Alex Smith is the Nittany Valley Society’s treasurer and serves as a board member.

Anthony Christina
Anthony Christina is the Nittany Valley Society’s secretary and serves as a board member.

Chris Buchignani
Chris Buchignani is the Nittany Valley Society’s president emeritus, and served as president from 2012-18. Chris hosts Obligatory and is a marketing consultant who lives and works in State College, Pennsylvania.

Steve Garguilo
Steve Garguilo, a Penn Stater from Altoona, Pennsylvania, served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2013-16, during which time he was instrumental in encouraging the development of Penn State’s undergraduate elective history course and the creation of the Stephen D. Garguilo Nittany Valley Society University History Endowment in the College of the Liberal Arts.

Shauna Barnes
Shauna Barnes, a Penn Stater originally from Pittsburgh, served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2015-18. She lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and serves as general counsel for a craft brewery.

Dave Cole
Dave Cole, a Penn Stater born and raised in State College, served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2014-18. Dave lives in New York City where he works at The Wall Street Journal.

Kevin Horne
Kevin Horne, a Penn Stater born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, served the Nittany Valley Society as vice president from 2013-18. As a student, Kevin served as editor of Onward State and served two terms as president of the graduate student body. Kevin earned his bachelor’s and law degrees from Penn State, and lives in State College, Pennsylvania where he works with Penn State’s Office of Student Affairs and represents students through Penn State Student Legal Services.

Christopher G. Miller
Chris Miller served the Nittany Valley Society board from 2012-18 and lives in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania where he works as a mechanical engineer.

Anthony Panichelli
Anthony Panichelli, a Penn Stater born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, served the Nittany Valley Society’s board from 2015-18. As an undergraduate, he served as speaker of the University Park Undergraduate Association, Penn State’s student government, was a member of Lion Ambassadors, Penn State Mock Trial, and the Tavern Restaurant’s waitstaff. He works for Hormel and lives in Austin, Minnesota.

Rick Smith
Rick Smith lives in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and served the Nittany Valley Society’s board as secretary from 2012-18.

Jon Hartland
Jon Hartland lives in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Jon served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2012-14, during which time he was instrumental in launching Nittany Valley Press. Jon serves as a pastor at Charter Oak Church Frye Farm.

Cori Agostinelli Kalupson
Cori Agostinelli Kalupson lives in the Nittany Valley and served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2013-15.

Zach Zimbler
Zach Zimbler, a Penn Stater born and raised in State College, served the Nittany Valley Society as a board member from 2012-16. He lives in Boulder, Colorado.
